Provides Information About Animal Health
Many people are drawn to the pug dog breed, but do not take adequate steps to ensure pug dog health. The Pug became an officially recognized AKC Toy group breed in 1885, but has been known to man for thousands of years. The Pug is easily recognizable because of its flat and wrinkly face, its thickset body, and a tiny curly tail. The standard height for Pugs is 10 to 14 inches, while the weight is around 13 to 20 pounds. Certainly, the breed has its own unique charm, but it is a type of dog that can develop many health problems that only their breed can catch, and special care must be taken to assure this doesn’t happen.

Check the folds of skin for signs of the infections that commonly plague the breed, and if you see any, take the dog to the veterinarian immediately. Regularly bathing and carefully removing all the dirt and debris between the wrinkles is something that should be done as a preventative measure.
The eyes are another major factor that causes Pug dog health problems. Eye injury is caused due to the shape of the face, which prevents the eyes from being protected properly. Any infection should immediately be detected through regular eye exams, and any inflammation is a reason to take your dog to the vet immediately.
Another health problem is overeating. A Pug therefore needs to have its food carefully managed so that they do not overeat, as that can be detrimental to them in the same way that it can be for humans. Because the breed is heat sensitive, never leave them in a parked car or outside without plenty of shade in the summer. An overheated pug can have a hard time breathing, so make sure that you don’t leave him anywhere where he might be subjected to high heat for any length of time.
Providing good pug dog health isn’t difficult, as all is that is needed is taking proper care of your pet and taking him to the vet when he needs it. Take care of your pet responsibly and you’ll have your companion healthy and happy for many years to come.
