Read More About How to Protect Against Genital Warts

Genital warts are very infectious and accounts for the reason of their continued prevalence but they also need to be treated early before they grow large. This is an easily transmitted for of the human papillomavirus found in other more common varieties with the exception that this form is just as readily transmitted orally. Genital warts are not necessarily prevented by a person because they are wearing a condom and quite often they will pass on the virus without even knowing they have it; this is particularly true for women.
Contact with an affected person is no guarantee they will spread immediately because they may not develop for months or sometimes many years.Once a person is infected, they too become a carrier, unwittingly promoting the virus. Ano-genital warts on male and female genitalia belong to a specific strain of human papillomavirus virus called HPV6 although there are now over 100 known types. Although outer warts can be easily seen, women who develop them inside their genitalia may not be seen until a doctor examines the site.
Women may display some additional discharge as genital warts may cause the area around them to be moister than other areas and it is this condition which promotes their growth. Even with the resources of medical science, the preferred method of removal is still the application of liquid nitrogen which is incredibly cold and kills the warts; sometimes more than one application is required. Whether liquid nitrogen is used is for the doctor or dermatologist to decide as it is not suitable for all locations even though it is quite painless.
Two other methods which require professional medical attention is the use of electro-cautery or the emerging laser wart removal process. Eradicating them is not completely assured as they can return after treatment and every method available to remove them is still reliant on the area they are located. A self administering treatment called imiquimod is designed to help the person’s immune system fight the genital warts but this cannot destroy the virus and there are no guarantees more will not form even though it is being applied.
Unfortunately imiquimod cannot always be used and in particular it is not to be administered when a woman is pregnant,it also has restrictions on it’s use inside the vagina and genitals or when the skin around the area is inflamed. Your doctor may also warn against some of the more serious side effects of using imiquimod, which is common with any type of medical reparation. As with any information based on a medical problem, full information and options on genital warts should ideally be sought from a physician as this article is for general background only.
