What is The Treatment For Yeast Infection?

September 11th, 2008 by admin

It is the existing fungi in your skin. Fungi need damp, moist areas to grow. When you change the position where fungal growth has taken place then you can expect a yeast infection. How do organisms enter our skin?

Yeast Infection

Amazing but true, yeast infection is seen only in adult women, but never in children. A child may get oral thrush but never anywhere else. As the child grows, any parent would hear of such misconceptions. Children, like any of us, may be prone to be infected by Candida, which need not be only in the mouth area. For such infections to occur and spread, all that is needed is a warm and damp environment.

What causes a yeast infection: Candida thrives in an area where the area is wet and moist. The cute folds and the areas which are usually covered by diapers are the ideal places where Candida can breed. It looks more or less like thrush with those white lumps and smelling like rising bread. As a preventive step against yeast infections, keep the baby dry and clean all the time, especially during the warm and humid summer months.

The reason why Candida thrives more in women and girls is because the genital area has more folds for the yeast infection to grow. So why do boy children get affected as well? Think this over: what causes diaper rash would also cause Candida overgrowth, so your precautionary measures should also be the same for the baby daughter as well as for your baby son.

Signs and symptoms of yeast infection

It all depends on the area of infection and the symptoms would vary accordingly. Thick and white or thin and watery vaginal discharge along with a burning sensation can be the symptoms of a vaginal infection. Thick white patches on top of swollen red skin in the mouth the signs of an oral infection. It is less itchy than outer skin infections but can bleed if you remove the white part. Because this causes pain during eating and drinking, ensure the child is well hydrated.

Parents should watch out for reasons for yeast infections. Though potentially not fatal, it could lead to complications if you ignore it. The symptoms mentioned above are the most common but make an appointment with your doctor if you have any problems.
